Furnished bedroom with private bath. We welcome short or long stays.

RENTAL UNIT DESCRIPTION

This is a master bedroom with a private full bath. Three of us currently live in the house. We all have our own rooms, bathrooms, and refrigerators. Two of us share the kitchen. One prefers to cook in her room. If you...
are someone who likes to cook in your room, then a coffee maker, microwave, small stove top and larger fridge can be provided in your room.

We are laid back, mostly quiet, and respectful of each others' space. One of us is from the School of Public Health, another is from the Nursing School, and the third is retired from customer service. We have two dogs. An attractive feature of this specific room is that it gets the morning sun, so it is the brightest room in the house getting the most natural light if you are one who enjoys studying with natural light.

An attractive feature of this location is that it is surrounded by nature and woods. One student called it her "oasis" away from the stresses of school.

SMOKING, PETS, ALCOHOL
We have two friendly dogs. I know, everyone says their dogs are friendly. But ours really are. We generally keep them in our rooms. We know dogs are like grandkids where the owners think they are cuter than the rest of the world thinks they are, so we don't push them on you. Right now, we cannot accept any more pets in the house.

Smoking is permitted only at the edge of the property but not in or near the house.

Frequent/heavy alcohol consumption is discouraged. This is not a party house. Residents often say they have selected our house because of the peace and quiet.

GETTING TO HOPKINS
IF YOU DON'T HAVE A CAR: If you do not have a car, there is a free Hopkins shuttle bus across the street from our house that goes to the Hopkins medical campus (medical school, nursing school, public health school, hospital, outpatient clinic, and Wilmer Eye Clinic) almost every hour from early morning to early evening. Schedule is provided in photos.

IF YOU DO HAVE A CAR: There is plenty of on-street parking (see photo). The commute to the medical campus/ public health campus takes about 20 minutes by car heading south on I-83.

ABOUT OUR NEIGHBORHOOD
Mt. Washington is a quiet, safe, and green neighborhood in Baltimore City where many Hopkins faculty and students reside. People love it for its greenspace. Across from our house is a woods with a boardwalk (see photos) that takes you to Starbucks, Whole Foods, and downtown Mt. Washington. The boardwalk is part of the Jones Falls walking/biking trail which runs all the way to downtown.

Among the more than 200 communities within Baltimore City, Mt. Washington has been rated as the highest median educational level. So, our neighborhood listserve of 1000+ participants gets pretty interesting. You can join for free if you live in the neighborhood. It doesn't just list things you'd expect such as neighborhood activities, traffic alerts, and free give-aways of furniture and clothes, but it is also known for being able to answer just about everything such as "What is an inexpensive place to stay in Tuscany?" or "What is the best way to travel to New York to see a Broadway play and come back the same day?" "Does anyone else have a Jack Russell terrier looking for a play mate?" One person even wrote an article, "Everything I learned on the Mt. Washington listserve."

CARRYOUT AND FOOD DELIVERY
If you, like many students, live on carryout/ food delivery, here are some of the favorites from which you can order.

American food: burgers, subs, pizza (Pepe's)
Japanese and sushi (Sushi Hana or Yuki, Yama)
Indian (Belvedere Towers or Mt. Washington Pizza)
Chinese (Hunan Wok)
Pizza (Pizzaboli's or Mt. Washington Pizza)
Thai (Thai Landing or Bodhi Corner)
Mexican (Chipotle)

POPULAR AMENITIES
The Sunday Farmer's Market is two blocks from our house.

Whole Foods, Starbucks, and the Mount Washington Light Rail Stop are a 15-minute walk via the Jones Falls trail boardwalk through the woods which you would access across the street from our house. By car, these are 5 minutes.

NOTE: The Light Rail goes all the way to Baltimore-Washington (BWI) airport to the south, and all the way to Hunt Valley (Wegman's) to the north.

Lake Roland is a 5-minute ride on the Light Rail or by car. This is a 500-acre park with walking paths, canoeing/kayaking, a playground, picnic area, waterfall, dog park, and beautiful nature. (See photos).

City bus stops are within walking distance located in downtown Mt. Washington- a walk through the boardwalk will get you there. A bus stop is also on Ken Oak Ave within walking distance from the house.
